 Rapid progress in the production and 
 consumption of Imagery has inevitably 
  granted the ever growing number of 
  people who represent its "market", 
access to an ever greater selection of 
     iconographic subject matter.

    Freedom in the marketplace, an 
indispensable condition for the forces 
   of production, has had important 
    psychological consequences for 
      pictorial representation.

     Choice of ends and themes for 
representation were no longer bound by 
authoritarian controls. The progressive 
disappearance of pictorial censorship  
     was dictated by the forces of 
 production and marketing, rather than 
   a conquest of, or a concession by 
            social forces.

 Safeguarding the various rights which 
   together are called "Civil" is a 
     fundamental necessity for the 
development and, ultimately, control of 
      the means of production.

 What Aretino called presenting to the 
  "eye, that which it most desires", 
   which is, of course, portraits of 
 human sexuality, must be considered a 
       fundamental civil right.  
     As much as society has tried  
         to deny these rights, 
    it cannot deny the fact......

....that a market and an industry have 
existed for centuries for eroticism, a 
theme which has taken precedence by far 
 over the ancient genres of the Sacred 
   and the Political in the arts of 
      pictorial representation.

  The Trotskyite theory, defined by 
Simon Weil as "ingenuous", states that 
repression must necessarily end when it 
 becomes harmful to production. In the 
 case of pornography, this theorem has 
   proved to be all but ingenuous.

 The advent of the Age of Pornography, 
  whose beginnings are rooted in the 
processes of photography, photogravure 
 and cinematography, and which is now 
 propagating through the newer imaging 
   media - electronic, magnetic and 
     optical - used in television 
broadcasting and computer science,.....

   .....this advent grants concrete 
reasons to hope that the revolution in 
 the forces of production will be able 
  to attain that economic and social 
  success which those imbecilic human 
  "professional revolutionaries", not 
 only have not been able to reach, but 
which they have actually rendered more 
             unreachable.
